The dynamics of debris streams from tidal disruption events: exact solutions, critical stream density, and hydrogen recombination

چکیده
A star destroyed by a supermassive black hole (SMBH) in tidal disruption event (TDE) is transformed into filamentary structure known as tidally disrupted stellar debris stream. We show that when ideal gas pressure dominates the thermodynamics of stream, there an exact solution to hydrodynamics equations describes stream evolution and accounts for self-gravity, pressure, dynamical expansion gas, transverse analyze stability this cylindrically symmetric perturbations, critical density below which unstable not self-gravitating; factor at least 40-50 smaller than TDE. Above overstable, self-gravity confines oscillation period exponentially long, growth rate overstability scales $t^{1/6}$. The power-law small index implies effectively stable perturbations. also use effects hydrogen recombination, suggest even though recombination substantially increases entropy, it likely incapable completely destroying influence self-gravity. transient produced far less luminous previous estimates.

Unbound Debris Streams and Remnants Resulting From the Tidal Disruptions of Stars by Supermassive Black Holes
The kinetic energy of a star in orbit about a supermassive black hole is a significant fraction of its rest mass energy when its periapse is comparable to its tidal radius. Upon its destruction, a fraction of this energy is extracted and injected into the stellar debris, half of which becomes unbound from the black hole, with the fastest material moving at ∼ 0.03c. In this paper, we present a f...
متن کاملRevisiting Optical Tidal Disruption Events with iPTF16axa
We report the discovery by the intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (iPTF) of a candidate tidal disruption event (TDE) iPTF16axa at z = 0.108, and present its broadband photometric and spectroscopic evolution from 3 months of follow-up observations with ground-based telescopes and Swift. The light curve is well fitted with a t decay, and we constrain the rise-time to peak to be <49 rest-frame...
متن کاملSubstructure in Tidal Streams: Tributaries in the Anticenter Stream
We report on the detection in Sloan Digital Sky Survey data of at least three, roughly parallel components in a 65 -long, stellar stream complex previously identified with the Monoceros Ring. The three-stream complex varies in width from 4 to 6 along its length and appears to be made up of two or more narrow substreams as well as a broader, diffuse component. The width and complexity of the str...
